Abstract:
A cooling tower is equipment used to reduce the temperature of water stream by extracting heat from water and emitting it to the atmosphere, in cooling tower water is evaporated with the air moving stream and discharge to the atmosphere and remaining water cooled when it passes through the fills and come in contact with cold air. It is mostly used to cool the hot water coming from heat exchanger, the hot water sprayed over the fills then comes in direct contact with the atmospheric air. The cooling tower is a direct contact type of heat exchanger; it is a semi-enclosed, evaporative cooler. The water is sprayed through a certain height and air current passes it. Some water evaporates and the heat of evaporation is extracted from falling water and surrounding air thus both water and air cool worked on induced draft close wet cooling tower in a closed wet cooling tower (CWCT) can be regarded as a cooling tower with the chemical dosing replaced by a chlorine dioxide (ClO2) Generator. The heat and mass transfer in CWCT has been little investigated under supersaturated condition.
