Abstract:
Energy of wind can be economically used to generate electricity. Wind can also be used to provide mechanical power such as for water pumping. In Indian subcontinent year round moderate wind speed obtain that’s why lift type WEG are not techno-commercial feasible except costal area. Therefore small attempts are made by author on developing small wind turbine of low cost and low speed which can match with wide wind range. This paper deals with the analysis and power performance of vertical axis drag type wind turbine generator. Since we know that all drag type wind turbine produce high torque at low rpm, but we can overcome this difficulty by using low rpm multi-pole permanent magnate type generator.
